Attending Seminar on Revive Local Universities
On September 2, Korea Institute for Education & Evaluation Advancement (CEO Seong Dae Geun)
attended a seminar on saving local universities at Suseong University's Gangsan Hall in Daegu!
The local university revival seminar is hosted by the local university revival movement headquarters established in September 2022
to present new directions and find and solve alternatives to the extinction crisis of local universities.
The seminar for saving local universities was divided into parts 1 and 2.
Starting with a greeting from Central Chairman Shin Young Gil, we wrapped up the first part with a congratulatory speech from Cho Kang Hyun,
the head of the Central Party's advisory group, Kim Seung Soo, and Cho Jae Gu, the head of Nam Gu, Daegu.
Central Chairman Shin Young Gil delivered a congratulatory speech and said, "The phenomenon of students' concentration in the Seoul metropolitan area is inevitable."
Currently, due to the decrease in the school-age population and the concentration of students in the Seoul metropolitan area,
local universities have difficulty recruiting new students, leading to the problem of survival.
He said, "In order to prevent the disappearance of local universities, the interest and cooperation of the Hanhak Association are the most important factors,"
and concluded the congratulatory speech with the suggestion of various alternatives for the survival of local universities.
In the second part, Pastor Seo Kyung Deok and Lim Seung Hwang, vice president of the Korea Welfare Cyber University, presented and discussed alternatives to local universities.
Pastor Seo Kyung Deok's "Overseas Talent-specific Education Internationalization Special Zone"
and Vice President Lim Seung Hwan's "Impact of Population Cliffs Due to Low Birth Rate and Aging and Attracting International Students" were presented.
After the presentation of the two opinions, many of the people who attended the seminar on saving local universities had a question-and-answer session and then had a free time to present their opinions.
Through this seminar, various alternatives and opinions were presented to solve the problem of
the disappearance of provincial areas and the number of universities that did not meet the quota.
Korea Institute for Education & Evaluation Advancement conducts consortium projects with universities or provides various education to college students.
As it is an educational company closely related to universities, we are interested
in the agenda of saving local universities and are making efforts in various ways to find effective solutions.
I hope that good measures and detailed plans will be presented to provide diverse university education beyond the crisis of extinction of local universities,
such as low birth rates, aging, and lack of new students due to various problems in the Seoul metropolitan area!
It was a very rewarding opportunity to discuss with many people who are striving for a better future.
