Seong Dae geun, CEO of Korea Institute for Education & Evaluation advancement, announced a plan to promote a social contribution program to support the smooth independence of children who have completed protection nationwide.
It is a word that refers to young people who become officially independent by leaving protective facilities such as child care facilities when they turn 18 years old of 18. According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, about 2,500 end-of-protection children a year go to society. However, most children who are terminated from protection often fail to establish a proper independence foundation in society, suffer economic and residential difficulties in the process of independence, and complain of emotional loneliness.
To help children become independent, the government provides up to 5 million won and 300,000 won per month for three years after the end of protection, but children who have just become adults often fail to make good use of their money and are quickly exhausted or taken away by their parents.
Korea Institute for Education & Evaluation advancement plans to promote a program to support children who have completed their protection in connection with cooperative universities distributed across the country to help them stand alone.
Korea Institute for Education & Evaluation advancement's end-of-protection child support program provides educational programs, dormitory-based housing support, and scholarship projects to foster self-reliance for end-of-protection children, not just sponsorship projects.
Korea Institute for Education & Evaluation advancement is currently cooperating with 26 universities nationwide and 15 institutions that can provide various assistance such as education and employment support for end-of-protection children, so it is possible to support programs for end-of-protection children nationwide.
CEO Seong Dae geun said, "Currently, children who are terminated from protection are often pushed into society without laying the foundation necessary to stand alone." It will provide a foundation for moving forward for children who need protection in a day without any foundation and help to those who are given the responsibility of living in the world alone. Korea Institute for Education & Evaluation advancement will always listen and work hard to promote the program so that it can give realistic help to those who are lonely and struggling in the world," he said.
