Korea Institute for Education & Evaluation advancement will conduct a social contribution program for young people preparing to stand alone.

Last month, two independent youths from child welfare facilities died in Gwangju due to extreme choices one after another. It has been confirmed that they have left the shelter and lived in a university dormitory and an apartment alone with a disabled father. According to data submitted by Rep. Han Jung-ae of the Democratic Party of Korea from the Ministry of Health and Welfare on the 25th, the two young people had 11.65 million won and 5.6 million won, including reserves and matching amounts under the "Didim Seed Bankbook Project."

As interest in the issue of youth preparing for self-reliance has increased, various support policies and projects have been promoted and financial support has increased, but it is not easy for children to easily try due to difficulties or complicated procedures. The Didim Seed Account Project, which targets low-income children, is also known to have 181.4 billion won in reserves that 45,217 people who participated in the project did not visit. In fact, the "Tedim Seed Bankbook" is made in the name of local governments and has to go through complicated procedures such as bringing various evidential documents, making it difficult for young people who have never handled financial affairs to withdraw themselves.

According to the Korea Institute of Health and Social Affairs' survey on self-reliance of children (currently self-reliance preparation youth), 50% (1,552) out of 3,104 young people who are preparing for self-reliance said they want to die, and the biggest problems are economic problems (33.4%), family conflicts (19.5%), and mental problems (11.4%). In addition to economic problems, they are suffering from various problems. Recently, economic support has been increasing as the issue of youth preparing for self-reliance has come to the surface, but young people preparing for self-reliance are still struggling because they have not learned how to receive and utilize support and plan for self-reliance.

Accordingly,Korea Institute for Education & Evaluation advancement promotes a project to support youth preparing for self-reliance in order to promote the welfare of youth preparing for self-reliance and support self-reliance. The self-reliance preparation youth support project is currently in place due to the increase in economic support, but education on how self-reliance preparation youth can utilize it, psychological and emotional problems, and basic knowledge on problems solved as adults are insufficient. The composition of the support project is divided into eight areas: housing, living expenses, employment, studies, emotions, psychology, education, and consulting to support the overall life and foundation of young people preparing for self-reliance. In addition, in order to prevent difficulties in collecting information such as support and education and differences in regional support, nationwide management and support are provided in connection with consortium cooperative universities and institutions, and more careful management is provided by hiring employees from each region.

Protection facilities and support institutions also lack manpower to examine and help these situations one by one. To improve this situation, the self-reliance preparation youth support project will be divided into eight detailed areas, and for careful management in each region, it will connect with consortium cooperative universities nationwide and hire employees by region. In fact, we will continue to listen and develop young people who are preparing for self-reliance so that they do not endure difficult situations alone by coming up with support measures needed by young people who are preparing for self-reliance."
