In addition, Cambodia decided to participate as an official sponsor of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (Sea Games) to be held in Phnom Penh in May this year for the first time in Cambodia.

Korea Evaluation Institute of Education, which has officially sponsored the Cambodian fencing national team, is preparing for various projects such as education business, smart city, and content business through the establishment of a Cambodian corporation.

It is known that projects for improvement and fostering IT talent are also being pursued in parallel.Daegeun Seong, CEO of Korea Evaluation Institute of Education, said, “As an official sponsor of the Southeast Asian Games to be held in Phnom Penh in May this year, we plan to develop various sponsorship activities to improve the performance of Cambodian athletes as well as boost their morale.

In addition, while maintaining close cooperation with the Cambodian Fencing Association, we will spare no support so that the national team players can achieve good results in the Asian Games held in their countries, such as expanding the fencing population base as well as supporting training equipment and facility reinforcement.” said.

The Cambodian fencing team was founded in the early 1960s with the active interest and support of King Norodom Sihanouk, who is called the “Father of Independence” and “Father of the State,” after escaping colonial rule from France.

In the mid-to-late 1960s, it enjoyed its heyday, winning numerous gold medals in various international competitions.

However, in the 1970s, the fencing team was disbanded and even cut off after experiencing a civil war called the ‘Killing Field’.

In 2006, more than 30 years later, the Fencing Association was revived, centering on former fencers who survived the long civil war, and officially joined the International Fencing Federation in the same year.

Currently, about 20 national team players selected from 11 clubs across the country are sweating hard to win medals at the ASEAN Games, which will be held in their countries for the first time in May this year, despite poor training conditions.
