The Korea Institute For Education & Evaluation Advancement (CEO Seong Dae geun) announced that it will operate online education and innovation classes at universities in earnest starting this year in 2022.

In a changing university environment such as a decrease in the school-age population, The Korea Institute For Education & Evaluation Advancement will present a future university education model and create an environment accordingly.

In the case of online education, students learn in advance by connecting high-quality educational content online, and in collective education, teachers and instructors answer and explain students' questions. Unlike the existing method in which both learning and feedback were conducted offline, students themselves conduct learning in the classroom online and then learn the application they did alone after the lecture through group activities in the classroom.

Until now, university classes have been one-way learning in which teachers and instructors lecture students, and it is difficult to reflect rapidly changing educational trends such as an increase in non-face-to-face classes and a decrease in the school-age population. Most of the classrooms focus on lectures, so even if there are questions, they choose to visit professors after the lecture rather than questions during the lecture.

However, in the case of classes proposed by The Korea Institute For Education & Evaluation Advancement, classes with higher understanding and level can be conducted because they attend classes after conducting basic concepts online, and as most of the existing lectures are secured, questions such as visiting professors or asking friends are omitted.

The Korea Institute For Education & Evaluation Advancementwill have an affiliate dedicated to education to develop programs that can incorporate 4th industrial technology into education in the COVID-19 era by applying AI and big data as well as non-face-to-face class development, and is making various efforts to lead online education.

It said it plans to invite professional masters and PhDs from various fields to provide high-quality lectures to students, and to apply an absolute evaluation method to foster collaboration and problem-solving talent through innovation classes. In light of the education of the era, the decision was made to determine that the relative evaluation method was not correct.

The times are changing, but the current way of education remains the same, said Seong Daegeun, CEO of The Korea Institute For Education & Evaluation Advancement. Many people are trying to develop non-face-to-face classes, but so far, it is difficult to say that the way of classes has changed as there are cases where only on-site classes are carried out online. The need to change the educational method is a problem that has been raised before, and as COVID-19 intensifies, it feels more necessary. The Korea Institute For Education & Evaluation Advancement will make efforts to innovate new university education so that students can proceed with efficient learning even in the COVID-19 era," he said.
