Seong dae geun, CEO of the Korea Institute For Educational & Evaluation Advancement, says that to ease the security tensions on the Korean Peninsula, South Korea's bid to become the center of Eurasia's peace could ease security tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

Currently, the U.N. headquarters are based in Geneva (second headquarters), Vienna, Austria (third headquarters) and Nairobi, Kenya (fourth headquarters), respectively, following New York. This means that the U.N. headquarters exist in the Americas, Europe, and Africa, but there is no U.N. headquarters in Asia, the largest global population on Earth, with the largest area on Earth. What would happen if the U.N. Fifth Headquarters, or the U.N. Asian Headquarters, were established on the Korean Peninsula among Asian continents?

If the U.N. Asian headquarters is hosted on the Korean Peninsula, the employment rate will rise first. Everyone knows that COVID-19 has been hit hard by the economy and also by job security. Under these circumstances, if the U.N. Asian headquarters is hosted on the Korean Peninsula, it is estimated that many jobs will be created, including young people employed as permanent employees within the U.N. Asian headquarters and volunteers needed for various events hosted by the U.N. organization.

Secondly, it will be able to emerge socially and culturally. Recently, the Korean Wave is blowing due to K-POP culture, raising good awareness of Korea. As a result, Seoul, Korea's representative city, has emerged as an international attraction and tourist destination, increasing the flow of the population, and promoting Seoul as a classy new international city. In addition, with the growth of the international conference and exhibition industries, sustainable MICE events can be created in a fixed manner to improve international awareness, and economic ripple effects can also be obtained through fixed MICE events.

Finally, peace on the Korean Peninsula will be guaranteed. The U.N. Asian headquarters will act as a deterrent to war on the Korean Peninsula and ensure peace on the Korean Peninsula, which is consistent with the U.N. purpose of maintaining international peace and security as well as the benefits of peace and stability.

If the U.N. headquarters in Asia is able to solve about 50 global issues, including peacekeeping operations (PKO), security, terrorism, human rights, environment, refugees, elderly people, poverty, development, and health, it will be able to play a significant role on behalf of Korea as well as an international organization.

Seong dae geun, CEO of the Korea Institute For Educational & Evaluation Advancement, said, "Korea has a geographical requirement that it is a hub for international relations between Eurasia and Oceania and the Pacific and the Indian Ocean, and it has overcome the pain of war and entered the 21st century." I hope that this will be a good opportunity to further enhance Korea's national prestige as well as economic, social and cultural growth by paying more attention and working hard to attract the U.N. Asian headquarters."
